“Once in our world, a stable had something in it that was bigger than our whole world.”
At Haven, we love beautiful home furnishings that are lovely and cozy. We also desire to provide simple, doable tips to get organized in the New Year. It is hard to think about putting up Christmas decor because I sure will miss our twinkly, beautiful Christmas trees. However, what better way to have your Haven organized than to start with your Christmas décor. I love purging our spaces so they are filled with décor and trinkets that spark cherished, lovely memories…instead of feeling overwhelmed and cluttered. If you organize and purge (any decor you don’t find lovely or use anymore) your Christmas decor now while you are putting it away then you will love decorating for Christmas even more next year.
Let us start the New Year feeling light, lovely, and organized. May we all have peace, joy, and love fill our haven in 2017.

Now that you have some great storage product idea’s we would like to share some of Haven’s Christmas decor organization tips.
First, decide where you want to begin.
Then, lay out all the storage bags and containers, labels, and tissue paper that will be used to organize and wrap all your Christmas décor. You can label the storage bags and containers by room or by number…whichever order you will remember best.
Haven recommends you decide which of the following categories relate to your Christmas decor and then begin organizing. We breakdown our Christmas décor in the following order: indoor trees (bags labeled), indoor tree décor (ornament storage box and garland bag), mantles (storage boxes), indoor decorative items (storage boxes), kids trees and decorative items (storage box and bags), and outdoor decorations (storage boxes, garland and wreath bags, and light storage).
For the Christmas tree décor (lights, garland, ornaments, ribbon, tree topper) you can begin with fragile ornaments and place them in an ornament storage box. I add the ribbon and garland to a garland bag along with the tree topper and tree skirt.
We have a great room and keeping room, both with fireplace mantles. We organize the Christmas decor from each fireplace mantle in a large box and then label the box “Great Room Mantle” or “Keeping Room Mantle”.
For the Indoor Christmas decorative items Haven recommends placing them in storage boxes and label them the room name that they are used. Once the décor is stored and labeled, all of our Christmas décor boxes and bags are placed in the labeled order in our garage top two 15’ long shelves.
Extra organization tips…
A fun way to organize your Christmas gift wrap is with a gift wrap cart. I gifted this to my Mom last year and she has enjoyed using it to wrap gifts comfortably and keep all of her wrapping items organized. Please contact us if you need help getting your Haven organized in the New Year.
